One foot in front of the other

4 Oct

Acts 20:24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

This journey is just beginning for the Baker family. We are excited about sharing our story with anyone who will listen. Hopefully you will enjoy our random, painfully honest, carefree grammatical style postings! One little family ready to put one foot in front of the other as we prepare to share the Gospel with the nations.

After returning from our trip to Honduras in July, we made the decision to relocate our family there next summer. The last month has been very hard, challenging and hectic, but again, God has proven himself faithful and strengthened us through these experiences. God provided us very quickly with someone to rent our house, and we were able to downsize to an apartment for the next year. The girls are getting used to their new bunk beds and sharing a room. Jacob and I are enjoying the life of less housework and stress and enjoying more fun times as a family. We’ve learned that with less space/storage, you really want less stuff. There is simply nowhere to put it! But, the crazy thing is, we don’t miss our stuff. Of course most of it is still in storage and a big yard sale is in the plans.

For those of you who have not heard our latest news, I will briefly catch you up. After knowing we had been called to full time missions, Jacob and I spent nearly a year in prayer and fasting, asking God to clearly lay out for us where he wanted us to go. Jacob met the Furrows (founders of Give Hope 2 Kids) while on a short-term medical mission trip to Rio Viejo, Honduras working alongside Instituto el Rey and the Jungle Hospital in February 2012. His encounter with Give Hope was brief, but left a lasting impression.

The orphanage is up the mountain a little from Rio Viejo, in a village named Urraco. Good luck finding it on a map. If you look at a map of Honduras, la ceiba is the closest city that will show up. Urraco is about a 1 ½ hour drive up the mountain from la ceiba.

Over the next couple of weeks, we look forward to sharing more about how we arrived where we are, and where the Lord leads us. 1 step at a time, 1 day at a time, and 1 mission of sharing Jesus with others. We would appreciate your prayers as we walk through this journey together

God Bless

Jacob and Cynthia Baker
